Someone please tell me that I'm not the only person who selects her scent not just by season but by wardrobe? I think I have the beginnings of scent OCD.
I do have grapheme → color synesthesia, a state that causes me to "see" letters and numbers in color, but my sense of smell has never been involved. Before I go to bed, I pick out my clothing and jewelry for the next day (I can't trust myself to have good judgment at 6 a.m.) and I contemplate the scent I'll be wearing as well. I find that if I decide to wear a particular color, then the scent I choose will be need to reflect that color in some way as well, be it by name, by the color of the juice or the bottle, or by the color of a note. Take purple, for example. When I wear a certain purple shirt, I can only allow myself to wear either Mure et Musc (blackberries are dark purple) or Olivier Durbano Amethyst. Rose fragrances are natural with pinks and reds; today I'm wearing a pink shirt and Bond No. 9 West Side with its pink peonies and roses. A few weeks ago, I wore Azurée Soleil for the first time with a turquoise - or azure - blouse.
Thankfully, I have a lot of neutral scents that I can wear with any color: Burberry Summer, Ava Luxe Palisander, Must de Cartier, CdG Sweet Wood Coffee, Frapin 1270, Givenchy Oblique Play, Jill Stuart Vanilla Lust. But even with these, there is a seasonality issue. Can I wear Wood Coffee or 1270 in warmer months? Oh, I know I can, but will something in my brain tell me that it's wrong?
What weird fragrance habits do you have?
