A few months ago I was looking for a potential replacement for my favorite tinted moisturizer which seemed to have stopped production. One of Nordstrom's very helpful Lancome SAs took me all around the beauty floor to test out other brands' versions. Some had too much coverage, others not enough. But Laura Mercier's seemed to be just right. It's oil free, with SPF 20, and on the back of my hand it looked to be the perfect color and texture.
But then I got it home.
I'm really picky about my tinted moisturizers, and LM's is probably the least favorite of those I've tried so far. I look like a burn victim covered with salve after applying this to my face - all shiny and sticky-looking. Why is it so shiny? I blend, blend, blend and the only way I can get rid of the shine is to powder myself copiously. Which kinda defeats the purpose of a light coverage of tinted moisturizer rather than heavier foundation, doesn't it?
I love Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer, but haven't tried anything else from her line other than this tinted moisturizer. Anyone out there have more (positive) experiences with her products?
On my second tube of this. Love the oil-free in Sand. Light coverage.
Maybe you are putting too much on? I do powder afterwards but I live in
Miami and its sweaty and muggy so that's a necessity any time of year. I
am 52 and have dry skin so maybe my skin soaks it up.
I don't think so. I use as much of this as I do of any other tinted
moisturizer, and other brands don't leave me shiny. But I'm glad someone
can use it!
I also tried the oil-free in Sand and found it gave me a nice dewy glow,
though it did get overly shiny as the day wore on. At first I was given
one shade too dark and was unhappy but got it exchanged. The problem is
that (a) it's mostly moisturizer and not enough foundation, and (b) doesn't
have as many shade options as foundations.
