Notes: bergamot, geranium, golden amber, ylang ylang, Bulgarian rose, honey, incense, vanilla, sandalwood
I was happy to receive a bottle of EL's new Amber Ylang-Ylang from my dad for Christmas. I had sniffed it a few times on recent trips to Nordie's and liked it quite a bit. It has a somewhat powdery amber that I like, one that's not as cloying as some sweet ambers, nor is it particularly rich or exotic. It's a friendly amber, one that's enough like vanilla to please a lot of people. It's snuggly and warm, like flannel jammies on a chilly day. Needless to say, the amber plays a far bigger role in this scent than the ylang ylang. Oh, there's a bit of floralcy in the opening, a touch of spicy gardenia and the ylang; sometimes I imagine I smell rose, but most often not.
I shoved my wrist under a few noses the first time I wore it to get opinions and several people thought it smelled like food. The drydown does have a lot of honeyed vanilla, and I suppose that does push Amber Ylang Ylang into somewhat gourmand territory. Have you smelled it? What do you think?
