Notes: sweet lychee, pineapple leaf, tangerine, gardenia, stargazer lily, white rose, vanilla flower, sandalwood, tonka bean
I got Sarah Horowitz' Creative Scentualization's new Beauty Comes from Within as a free sample when I placed my last order with Beauty Habit. I looked it up saw that the first two notes listed were lychee and pineapple. Remembering the fruity vomit that is Safi, I almost threw it away on the spot. But then I thought to myself, "suppose it's gorgeous and I miss out on it?" So I applied a little of it instead, waiting to be disgusted. And it's gorgeous and I definitely would have missed out on it.
The lychee and pineapple leaf notes are present only to lend a slight fruity tropicality, one that is buried in a semi-powdery combo of vanilla and sandalwood that pervades the scent from opening through drydown. Where the Safi had a sour, bile-like effect, Beauty is warm and rich. The combination of floral notes is sweet and sexy, an effect only enhanced by the sandalwood and tonka.
My only issue with the scent is that it may be a tad too sweet. I have been noticing that many fragrances I used to adore are on the sweet side, so that may just be my own sensibilities changing. However...I am sorely tempted to order a bottle of this stuff though...just so you know. :)
